This innovative Program of Study “Funeral Administrator – Embalmer (2 Years, Diploma) is offered for the First Time in Cyprus and Greece.  The program has a theoretical and practical orientation. It focuses on the study and analysis of modern trends and developments, taking into account tradition, culture, religion, the legislation in force, ethics and deontology, as well as the rules of Health and Safety and Public Health.

Graduates of the program will be able to self-operate or be employed on a case-by-case basis both in the private sector and in Private Law Entities (LEPs) and related public-sector organizations, both in Cyprus and the EU.

It is a 2-year Program of Studies and the student is required to have at least 120 ECTS (credit units) to graduate. In the second year of study the students have the opportunity to choose between the two directions of the Program of Study that of a Funeral Administrator or of an Embalmer.

Purpose of the Program of Studies – FUNERAL DIRECTOR

  • To provide efficient, effective and personalized provision of funeral services and related ceremonies, based on the principles of applicable national, community and international law, as well as the basic principles governing culture, culture and religion or doctrine, to all those living in any way in the Republic of Cyprus and in Greece in general.
  • To have analytical and synthesis skills so that acquired theoretical and practical knowledge can be translated into professional practice by promoting and offering the most appropriate proposals and services.
  • To cooperate, in a harmonious and constructive manner, with the relevant professions and officials of the State and the wider public sector, both internally and abroad.
  • Contribute to shaping and promoting relevant professional culture and culture.
  1. To possess the required level of flexibility and adaptability to act with complete self-confidence and professionalism within the framework of current legislation and developments in the field of social service provision.
  2. Develop and encompass the required levels of standardization and interoperability with both the related professions and the public and wider public sector officials.
  3. Communicate appropriately and effectively with all residents in any way in the Republic of Cyprus and abroad.
  4. Develop and optimize themselves as professionals through further follow-up of specialized and higher relevant curricula, and develop corresponding work to build on the philosophy of lifelong learning.
  5. To act responsibly and as responsible students as the right professionals in the industry.

A recognized Secondary School Leaving Certificate with an average mark of at least 60% or equivalent qualifications; and

A system of continuous (course work) which is 40% and final Exams which is 60% and the Passing mark is 50%, as follows:

  • During the semester, the instructor evaluates the students through a) Course Work which consists of: Tests, assignments, individual or group project, mid-term exams and / or other tests. The average of the scores is the continuous assessment score.
  • The final examination is carried out at the end of the semester.
  • The Passing mark is: 50%
